Multi Vitamins

What are the best multivitamins? To be honest, I am not very good when it comes to taking any vitamins. I’ve been told I need to take a multivitamin, calcium, vitamin D, fish oils, etc. The list is quite lengthy. While my health is very important to me, I don’t want to have to take several pills each day. I’m not entirely convinced that they are necessary or even helpful. There are a few I take just in case.

Benefits of Multi-Vitamins

The only way I can get all of the necessary vitamins is if I have a simple routine that I can stick too. The importance of the multi-vitamin, I do understand. People are always on the go and they may not get the nutrition they need from the foods they eat. A multi-vitamin like, Centrum Base Multivitamin, does the trick for about $10. It has a little bit of everything to fill holes that your diet may not have and the pills aren’t too big, if you are pill swallowing challenged. Yes, I came up with that phrase on my own.

Calcium

I also can see the benefit of taking a calcium supplement. I don’t want to have osteoporosis when I get older and I definitely don’t get enough calcium through the foods I eat. For calcium, I actually like those Viactiv chews. It’s one less pill I have to swallow. By the way, why are calcium supplements so big?

Omega Fatty Acids

Fish oils, also known as omega fatty acids, I occasionally take because heart disease is pretty scary to me. Check your family health history thoroughly. You know what, even if there’s no history of heart disease in your family, take these anyway. Prevention, right?

I know there are other vitamins that may be worth looking into. I have a few friends who take a green tea supplement. Not really sure what they do. My dad takes a garlic supplement amongst a couple of other vitamins.

I am waiting for the day when one pill contains everything the body needs. Until then, take care of yourself. One thing I know for sure: nothing takes the place of a nutritious diet and exercise. Keep your body healthy and strong and it will take care of you!
